Dear Umer,
As it is Valentine's Day this day, I would like to know one very important thing first of all: how are you?
Doth thee fare well?
How is your day progressing?
How's it going?
How's it hanging?
Wuzzup?
What's going down?
What's shaking?
Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera…
One might think that such a question would be strange to ask one's Valentine (a strictly friend one, I might add) on such a day as this. But this question is so commonly used because of the simple fact that, if it is genuine, it means the asker cares about whomever they're talking to, and that is a very basic and fundamental form of love and thus, it is very fitting for this day.
So I hope you're going well, my friend, and I really hope that 'nothing much' isn't happening, as so much happens around you, too much for one person to take in.
Speaking of which, how's the weather over there?
Do the clouds boil as my blood does at the mere mention of your enemies?
Does the sun beam as bright as a truly happy person's grin, especially that of That Special Someone?
Do caring clouds block out the sun, cooling you off on those days you feel you might burn up?
Do snowflakes kiss faces, and melt with the overload of That Fuzzy Tummy Feeling?
Is there a storm where you reside, where so many voices speak at once, hoping you'll understand?
Does hail knock on your door, demanding that you look outside at the beauty of the world, even in a damaging storm?
Does the sky weep with overflowing joy at the collective, overwhelming love of the world, as it is every other day?
Do you understand the glimpse lightning gives of how bright The One's eyes are to you?
Do you understand the howling wind's song, even though it's too excited to speak in a way most people understand?
Or is everything still, meditating on everything that has been said?
Friend, the weather alone is such a beautiful thing, speaking in such a wonderful language, that it takes a while to understand. But when you do begin to get it, you'll start to see and take in all the little wonders which make up our amazing world.
You'll see how all the good outweighs all the bad 1000-1.
